January 29, 2005

Dear Neighbors:

Please join me in welcoming Ann Hoskins-Brown as the new chair of the South of South Neighborhood Association effective January 26, 2005.

Ann is no stranger to the SOSNA community, having served as director of special projects for SOSNA in 2002. She joined the SOSNA board in April 2003 and has worked tirelessly in both capacities to help SOSNA meet the changing needs of a changing community.

Ann has worked hard on the transition team that helped SOSNA to create new bylaws and a new organizational structure with additional staff, including our interim executive director, David Feldman. Because of her hands-on involvement in so many SOSNA projects, she is perfectly positioned to hit the ground running and lead SOSNA's very capable and committed board and staff to new heights of excellence.

I leave the position of chair and the board -- with some regret -- because of a change in my workload that includes a highly variable schedule. It is simply not possible for me to continue to chair meetings. I will miss my many friends and neighbors very much but hope to be able to attend occasional meetings as my schedule permits. I look forward to continuing to serve SOSNA as its volunteer webmaster and to participate in additional projects from time to time. We have a great neighborhood, a great neighborhood organization, a great board, and a great new chair. It's a privilege to be associated with you all.

With very best wishes,
Laura Blanchard
